Bullet PointTop-10 if we had Included Honorable Mentions in the Count as 1 Point Each:

(Actual Finish) "What if" Place Name Actual Points HMs "What if" points
(1) 1 Haley Joel Osment 283 5 288
(2) 2 Jesse McCartney 279 8 287
(3) 3 Daniel Radcliffe 274 12 286
(4) 4 Aaron Carter 259 9 268
(5) 5 Billy Gilman 233 12 245
(6) 6 Kevin Zegers 232 5 237
(7) 7 Frankie Muniz 218 17 235
(8) 8 Justin Berfield 156 13 169
(9) 9 David Gallagher 152 10 162
(10) 10 Chris Trousdale 139 4 143

In this scenario, notice how the top three spots narrow!  Some other gaps tighten as well (e.g. between Frankie & Kevin).  But the top 10 remains completely unchanged.  Applying this count further down the list, the first switch in finish would be at 13th/14th places between Frankie Galasso and Alex D. Linz.  Next change would be at 20th place, giving it to Jamie Bell over Gregory Smith.  All in all, this new scenario is not significantly different from the current one, although it must be remembered that only a fourth of the ballots had HM's.

Bullet PointTop-10, if we Dropped 5th Place from the Ballot:

In other words, if we tallied points only for places 1-4:

"What if" Place Name "What if" points
1 Haley Joel Osment 271
2 Jesse McCartney 269
3-4 Daniel Radcliffe, Aaron Carter 251
5 Billy Gilman 222
6 Kevin Zegers 215
7 Frankie Muniz 214
8 Justin Berfield 148
9 David Gallagher 142
10 Chris Trousdale 127

Note that the top 10 remains virtually unchanged, though some gaps narrow or widen.  Only Daniel Radcliffe (with 23 fifth place votes) is slightly affected.  He has to share third place instead of owning it outright.  Glancing further down the list reveals that we would have to drop all the way to 19th place before fifth place votes make a difference in finish.

Bullet PointTotal stars in this year's poll: 397

Bullet PointTotal stars who received 1st-5th place votes: 218

Bullet PointTotal stars who received votes and/or Honorable Mentions: 235

Bullet PointTotal number of ballots that included Honorable Mentions: 89.  That's close to one out of four.

Bullet PointNumber of ballots tossed for ballot-box stuffing: 72 (359 ballots counted out of 431 received).  That seems like a large number but in terms of percentage, it's only 16.7% of the ballots.  Last year Lono tossed 23.7% of the ballots (32 ballots tossed, 103 counted, 135 total).  It's very unfortunate that people feel they must find a way to cheat the poll and skew the results.  We did not enjoy throwing out ballots, but we're sure that everyone wants the poll to be fair.  Hopefully people will not try to cheat next year.
